MoneyBug Is on TestFlight

By Pinned
MoneyBug is now on public TestFlight. After a long stretch of building, testing and billing real clients with it every day, it's ready to share: time tracking from the menu bar, every client and job in one window, and invoices in your own design. Join the TestFlight and take the Sample Library for a spin. Questions and ideas are always welcome at MoneyBug Support on GitHub.

Export as CSV

By Devlog
New in the File menu: Export MoneyBug Data as CSV. It saves your profiles, clients, jobs, line items and time entries as spreadsheets, plus a PDF of every finalized invoice and estimate, sorted into folders by profile and client. The files aren't encrypted, so with the app lock or encrypted backups on, MoneyBug asks for Touch ID or your Mac's password first.

Sync Between Your Macs

By Devlog
MoneyBug now syncs between your Macs through iCloud: start a timer at your desk, finish the invoice on your laptop. It uses your own private iCloud database, with the library's contents encrypted, and there's no MoneyBug account. Sync is optional. The library always lives on your Mac first, so everything works offline and catches up when you're back online.

Taxes and Importing Time

By Devlog
Taxes got filled out: more than one tax per client, items that skip a tax, a tax base on the invoice, and tax registration numbers for you and your clients. Also new: Import Time from CSV, which brings hours in from a spreadsheet by matching column names. It's marked Experimental for now.

Backups and an App Lock

By Devlog
MoneyBug now backs up the library every day and before any import, keeping recent copies you can restore from Settings. Backups can be encrypted with a password, so a copy on a USB drive or in a cloud folder can't be read without it. There's also an app lock, with Touch ID or your Mac's password, menu bar included.

Dashboard Cards and Deposits

By Devlog
The Dashboard is now made of cards you choose and arrange: open jobs, invoices waiting for payment, and charts of hours and income by day, month, quarter or client. Jobs can also take a deposit up front. MoneyBug invoices the deposit, then the balance when the work is done.

Clients, Profiles and Revisions

By Devlog
Clients now get a color, initials, a symbol or their own logo, shown in the sidebar and on the Dashboard. Profiles keep separate businesses apart, each with its own clients and invoice numbering. And a sent invoice can now be revised: every earlier version stays on file exactly as it went out.

The Invoice Designer

By Devlog
MoneyBug has an invoice designer now. Start from the Classic, Modern or Minimal design, then add your logo, arrange the fields and style the text. A design can have a cover page, a first page, later pages and an end page, each with an invoice and an estimate version. When a client accepts an estimate, it becomes the invoice.

Work Begins

By Devlog
Work begins on a simple, native Mac app for tracking time and turning it into invoices, with no web dashboard to log in to and no client list on someone else's server.
